Litigation Support Manager needed for an LA-based large firm with over 100 Attorneys in multiple offices, and a growing litigation department. This is a great opportunity to build a strong litigation support team while working at a top tier firm. The Litigation Support Manager will manage all facets of high-profile, complex litigation matters from inception through trial, supervise support case teams and provide hands-on support managing large amounts of discovery. This role will lead the creation and management of litigation databases and provide overall trial support.
Specific Litigation Support/eDiscovery Paralegal responsibilities include:
- In conjunction with Litigation Team Chair, develop and implement firm standards and litigation support policies and procedures to ensure consistency across case teams and delivery of high quality and cost-effective services.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to paralegals and other support staff in case management best practices.
- Develop, supervise, and implement litigation protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure best practices.
- Overseeing and quality control of docketing and calendaring of case-specific deadlines.
- Develop and implement training programs for attorneys and legal support staff, including in Relativity, Court Alert, Opus2, and other litigation technology tools.
- Consult and advise the firm’s litigation attorneys and clients regarding the best practices for handling clients’ ESI and how best to use technology to support their matters including data collection, data processing, and document production.
- Acting as a principal point of contact with and maintaining relationships with e-discovery and other litigation support vendors.
- Coordinating and performing (when necessary) in-house data management activities such as data processing, loading into database applications, imaging, and building production subsets.
- Performing final quality control and assurance on deliverables to case teams, clients and third parties.
- Identifying, collecting, loading, and organizing client documents for review.
- Applying ECA, TAR, and other analytics to streamline document review process.
- Creating and supporting document review and production workflows.
- Establishing coding and issue fields and searching criteria.
- Conducting document searches and issue tagging of key documents in client and third-party productions.
- Identifying privileged communications, redacting documents for production, and preparing privilege logs.
- Reviewing, analyzing, Bates-labeling, producing, and maintaining ESI and other discovery documents in administrative and litigation matters.
Ideal candidates Litigation Support Managers should have:
- 10 years’ combined experience (preferred) as an e-Discovery paralegal in complex business litigation and litigation support team management.
- Superior knowledge of technology and discovery database systems such as Court Alert, Relativity, Opus2, and Trial Director/OnCue required.
- Relativity Certified Administrator certification preferred but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved training program preferred.
- The individual should possess a high degree of attention to detail, organizational skills, and prioritization methods.
- Experience with commercial real estate and construction litigation preferred but not required.
